What you’ll do
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Software Engineer designs, develops, and installs software solutions. This position builds high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software in compliance with coding standards and technical design and is responsible for development, writing code, and documenting functionality.
Your contribution may include:
Execute full lifecycle software development.
Write well-designed, testable, efficient code.
Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.
Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
Document and maintain software functionality.
Tailor and deploy software tools, processes, and metrics.
Test solutions thoroughly to ensure reliable functionality prior to implementation.
Serve as a subject matter expert.
Comply with project plans and industry standards.
Other duties and projects, as assigned.
As a Software Engineer, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Information Systems team in Fort Smith, AR. This position offers flexible work hours between 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday with on call responsibilities and occasional irregular hours depending on workload. A flexible working schedule of nine-hour workdays with one day off every two weeks is available after six months of acceptable performance, subject to approval.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or relevant field.
Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience
8 years Prior experience as computer software engineer or software developer, preferred.
Prior experience designing interactive applications and test-driven development.
Proficient with software development methodology and release processes.
Computer Skills
Prior experience developing applications using programming languages and/or frameworks such as C#, VB.Net, .NET, ASP.Net, JavaScript, Vue.js, HTML, CSS, etc.
Experience with relational databases (DB2, SQL Server, etc.) and SQL.
Experience of how to interact with API’s.
Familiarity with z/OS mainframe technologies.
Understanding of software development lifecycles.
Experience implementing and building integrations with third-party software packages.
Prior experience with agile and scrum methodologies.
Growth mindset and a willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and frameworks.
